Santa Steve Olimer comes from a long line of iconic Santas, steeped in a rich legacy that spans generations. His roots in the Claus family run deep, with his parents, Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, having donned the famous red suit and spread holiday cheer throughout the ’70s up until ’93. His father, in particular, became a household name, gracing television screens and magazine pages in numerous commercials and advertisements for brands like 7UP, Avon, Bell Telephone, and Kellogg’s Corn Flakes, among others. His presence was felt not just in commercials but also in the festive atmosphere of places like the Yorkdale Shopping Centre.
Steve Olimer first stepped into his father’s big boots in 1982, continuing the family tradition of embodying the spirit of Christmas. Even as he pursued a career in teaching, the call of Santa’s sleigh was strong, and upon retirement, he eagerly donned the red suit to spread joy and goodwill as his father had done before him.
The connection between father and son extends beyond familial ties; it’s a shared commitment to bringing magic into the lives of others. Steve’s father, Santa Bert, was a beloved figure at Santa’s Village in Ontario, where he delighted children and adults alike. Steve not only filled in for his father during his tenure but also took on the responsibility of controlling the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer robot, adding an extra touch of enchantment to the holiday experience.
Their impact reached far beyond their Canadian home, with Steve making annual visits to Michigan, where families proudly displayed photos of his father, SantaClaus – Santa Bert, on their mantelpieces—a testament to the enduring memories he created. Santa Bert’s generosity knew no bounds, as evidenced by his involvement with the Last Wish Foundation, fulfilling a young boy’s dream of meeting the real Santa. His appearance on the popular TV show “Katts & Dog” further solidified his status as the genuine article.
Now, Santa Steve Olimer carries forth the torch of tradition with pride and dedication, embodying the essence of the real Santa for countless families across the globe. His commitment to spreading joy and making dreams come true ensures that the spirit of Christmas continues to shine brightly year after year.
Steve!
This is wonderful!!!
As you know I had the amazing opportunity of visiting Santa (your dad) at Santa’s Village many times with my girls and it was always a rewarding experience. He was “made” for the job, as was your mom. Kind and considerate, jolly and friendly, just what you would expect when visiting jolly St Nick.
Steve, you demonstrate the same unique qualities are your dad and this was apparent in the time I knew you as a teacher. You are also “made” for the job and I have no doubt that you and Amy will make your mom and dad proud.
Did I read correctly? You can also perform weddings? What a bonus for anyone with a Christmas themed wedding.
You wear the “red” well!!!
I wish you much joy and success as you embark on the next journey in your life.
“Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words and heartwarming memories! Hearing about your experiences visiting Santa’s Village with your girls brings back so many fond memories for me. My parents truly were a dynamic duo, embodying the essence of the holiday season with their kindness and jolliness.
It means the world to me that you see similarities between my dad and me. Teaching has always been a passion of mine, and now, stepping into the role of Santa Claus, it feels like a natural extension of spreading joy and warmth to others.
And yes, you read correctly! Alongside Santa Claus and teaching, I also perform weddings, adding a touch of Christmas magic to couples’ special days. It’s truly an honor to be part of such meaningful moments in people’s lives.
Thank you for your well wishes as Amy and I venture into this new chapter. We’re excited to continue the legacy of joy and kindness that my parents instilled in us. And wearing the ‘red’ is definitely a privilege! Wishing you and your family abundant joy and happiness this holiday season and beyond.”
Steve is so perfect for Santa Claus because he has such a happy spirit. He always sees the fun in things. When he taught for me a W.R. Best, he was always so much fun. The kids adored him.
I’m glad to see he’s still at it with his Santa Clausing and DJing. He brings so much joy into people’s lives. He’s a remarkable man.
“Thank you for sharing such wonderful sentiments about Santa Steve! It’s heartwarming to hear how his joyful spirit has touched so many lives, both as a teacher and as Santa Claus and DJ. It sounds like he truly embodies the spirit of the season, bringing laughter and happiness wherever he goes. Steve’s dedication to spreading joy is truly remarkable, and it’s clear that he has a special gift for connecting with people of all ages. Here’s to Steve and his continued mission of spreading joy and cheer!”
